Norway and Poland are long-standing partners in cooperation for energy security and the development of the power sector, which aims to increase the potential of renewable energy sources.
Since 2018, one of Norway's leading offshore wind companies, Equinor, has had a strong presence in the Polish offshore wind market, holding a 50% stake in the Bałtyk 1, Bałtyk 2, and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farm projects with a total capacity of 3 GW.
Simultaneously, the Polish leader in the fuel sector, the ORLEN Group, is developing its oil and gas facilities and increasing production volumes on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, including through ORLEN Upstream Norway.
Both countries have very high ambitions, including in the development of offshore wind farms. Poland plans to achieve approximately 18 GWe by 2040, while Norway's offshore wind strategy anticipates as much as 30 GWe in the same period.
In May 2025, the ministers responsible for energy and climate of Poland and Norway signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the areas described above. This will be achieved, among other things, through the exchange of services and products in supply chains, collaborations between entities in the energy and fuel sectors of both signatory countries, and even better utilization of financial resources from the Norway Grants and the EEA.
Regardless of the above, many areas of industrial and economic cooperation between our countries, including shipbuilding, offshore oil & gas, offshore wind, and many others, are already underway.
During the Polish-Norwegian Industrial Cooperation Forum, we will discuss the real scale of this cooperation and its development prospects for the coming years with a broad and cross-section of industry and political representatives.
