Energy industry at the start of 2025: The most important news from the first week

The first week of 2025 brings key events and controversies to the energy industry. The Prime Minister of Slovakia criticizes Ukraine's actions, pointing to the consequences of suspending gas transit. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic is ahead of Poland in the energy transformation, coping better with nuclear and coal. However, Poland is looking to the future, planning 4,700 km of new transmission lines, which will enable the development of nuclear energy. Fico claims that the suspension of transit did not result in a threat to gas supplies to Slovak households, but only in the loss of revenues from the transmission of gas through Slovak territory further to Western Europe.

Poland and the Czech Republic are countries that share many common features in the energy sector. However, Prague is carrying out its energy transformation faster and more efficiently than Warsaw. Why?
