Local government official and lawyer, mayor of Gdańsk since 2019.
She graduated from the 3rd General Secondary School in Gdańsk (1998). She studied law at the University of Gdańsk (2006) and Paris Lodron University in Salzburg (2004–2005). In elementary school, she was active in the student government.
She began by honing her skills alongside Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz as his assistant (2006). She participated in Gdańsk's preparations for UEFA EURO 2012™ (2008–2009). She was involved in the establishment of the European Solidarity Centre (2009–2014).
In March 2017, she became Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy. A year later, during the local elections, she headed Paweł Adamowicz's campaign team, running with the support of the "Everything for Gdańsk" association, which she founded.
Following the assassination attempt on Mayor Paweł Adamowicz on January 13, 2019, she assumed the duties of acting Mayor of Gdańsk. On March 11, 2019, after winning the election, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz was sworn in as mayor, becoming the first woman in Gdańsk's history.
She serves as vice-president of the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area. She is a member of the board of the Union of Polish Metropolises Foundation and is the Polish delegate to the European Committee of the Regions, an EU advisory body.
In October 2019, on behalf of the people of Gdańsk, she accepted the Princess of Asturias Award, known as the Spanish Nobel Prize, in the Harmony category. The jury recognized that Gdańsk's past and present reflect a sensitivity to solidarity, the defense of freedom, human rights, and the preservation of peace.
On April 7, 2024, she was re-elected as mayor of Gdańsk, winning in the first round with 57.95%.
She is raising her daughter Zosia (born 2008) on her own.
