76 Baltic Power turbines stand in the Baltic, the farm enters commissioning

Orlen and Northland Power have completed the installation of 76 turbines at Baltic Power, Poland's first offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 1.2 GW. Within a few months the farm is to supply more than 1.5 million households. Each 15 MW Vestas turbine undergoes a 240-hour reliability test before being handed over for operation. Once fully operational, the farm is to generate up to 4 TWh of electricity a year, around 3% of Poland's demand. The share of Polish companies in the project's spending is estimated at around 21 percent. The service base in Łeba is to provide around 100 permanent jobs.

PGE Baltica moves its offshore wind headquarters to Gdańsk

Platforms will be mounted on the piles, followed by the equipment to service FSRU vessels. In August, drilling of a microtunnel more than one kilometre long under Górki Zachodnie was completed, and a gas pipeline will connect the terminal to the shore through it. In the onshore part of the programme, Polish companies are carrying out 97% of contracts worth around PLN 1.8 billion.

Maxxen: battery profits in Poland are crazy

According to Clean Horizon, a two-hour energy storage facility in Poland earns EUR 587,000 per MW a year, the most among the countries surveyed. In France the figure was EUR 320,000, in Germany EUR 216,000. Most of the revenue comes from mere availability to provide ancillary services to PSE, including EUR 283,000 from the aFRR reserve. Ruben Valiente, CEO of Maxxen, expects profits to fall once the first large batteries enter the market. According to WysokieNapiecie.pl, the ancillary services market will be saturated within 2 to 3 years.
